Further, on February 11, 2019, it was announced by the Prime Minister’s Office that Datuk Shireen has been appointed as a member of the Economic Action Council, formed to act on economic issues faced by the Malaysian public and to enhance the well-being of the people. Datuk Shireen is the Founder, Managing Director & Principal Fund Manager of Corston-Smith Asset Management Sdn Bhd which emphasises governance and responsible investments in the ASEAN region. Prior to Corston-Smith, she was the CEO of AIG Investment Corporation (Malaysia). Datuk Shireen was honoured by the prestigious regional publication Forbes Asia in its annual “Asia’s 50 Power Businesswomen” list for 2014, which recognises 50 exceptional and powerful women in business in Asia Pacific, being the only Malaysian to be on the list in 2014 and at that time one of only two Malaysian women to have been selected since the list was established in 2012.
