2022 ECEF Scholar
The Rest of the ECEF Scholar 2022
Back in September, we posted about the 2 young men who had been given scholarships to assist them in their studies in Sunway. Here are details on the rest of the 2022 ECEF scholars.
Alsyifa Dania Binti Lay Lwin
This young lady has an unusual name – and that is because her father is a Myanmarese, while her mum is a Malaysian. Her father came to Malaysia many years ago and has settled here after marriage. Both parents work in sales. Alsyifa performed very well in Matriculation and has been offered a place in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia to pursue a degree in Business Administration. She started her course in October (after undergoing orientation which she was “really fun”) and stays on campus in Bangi.
Here is a photo of her with her parents and younger brother.
Daniel Lee Wai Meng
Daniel, who lives in Seri Kembangan, aspires to be an engineer. He applied for a variety of Engineering courses and was offered the chance to become a civil engineer. With the help of ECEF, he has started his4-year course at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Daniel’s
mum is a tuition teacher at a tuition centre, whilst his father is unemployed. His older sister – who has started work -also went through university with the help of a scholarship. The whole family sent Daniel to UTM in Johore, where they took this photo.
Wesley Ting Ri Hong
Wesley hails from Sibu. He did a Foundation course in Medicine at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia, finishing in the top half of his class and thereby securing a place in the degree course. His father, unfortunately, was this year retrenched from his job as a Camp Manager Assistant in Sarawak. His mother is a homemaker who is a breast cancer survivor.
Here is a photo of Wesley with his parents outside the UPNM hostel in Sungei Besi which will be his home at least for the next year.
